1953 Mermaid Lagoon

1953 Mermaid Lagoon
I am so excited to announce Besame Cosmetics newest Disney collection 1953 Mermaid Lagoon a collection inspired by the iconic Mermaid scene in Disney's 1953 Classic Peter Pan. I am sure a lot of you know I am a huge Disney fan & one of my favorite films from the early Disney era is Peter Pan, when I was younger I wanted to fly to Neverland & visit the Mermaid Lagoon. The mermaids are so beautiful & pretty feisty if you ask me, but I really love the whole aesthetic of the Lagoon the color palette is so dreamy in Technicolor. Became Cosmetics teamed up with Disney to bring us another visually striking collection with gorgeous eyeshadows, lipsticks, & more inspired by the Inks & Paints used to create the Mermaids.

One of my favorite Female Disney Color Artists is Mary Blair, she has helped create some of the most beautiful Disney Films in the early 1940s to the 1950s such as Peter Pan, Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella & she was even requested by Walt Disney himself to work on the attraction "It's a Small World". This Limited Edition Collection will be available November 3rd & 4th at the Dapper Day Expo, & Online at Besame Cosmetics boutique November 5th
To shop the Collection at the Dapper Day Expo you will need to tickets to enter, the expo is located in the Disneyland Hotel.
When I first received this package I had no idea what was inside I just knew it was Besame Cosmetics new Disney Collection. When I opened the box I was greeted with teal & pink tissue paper, followed by shimmering packaging & behold it was the 1953 Mermaid Lagoon collection. I can definitely say Besame never disappoints when it comes to packaging, the Peter Pan Mermaid Lagoon boxes are stunning in person & I was extra careful when opening the boxes. The lipstick packaging features a mermaid on the side, with the name of the collection, & at the bottom it features a clam shell in the same hue as the lipstick with the shades name. Moving on to the Bronzer & Pearl Shimmer packaging, they both have clam shell cutouts displaying the clam shell products beautifully. Lastly the eyeshadow packaging which is similar to the lipsticks packaging, but with an adorable surprise as you open the flap it features Peter Pan & the Mermaids with details about where the Inks & Paints were used by the Disney artists to create the Iconic Mermaids in the 1953 classic Peter Pan.
The Eyeshadow Palette Case is just as beautiful as the packaging, the case is a bubble gum pink hue with gold outlined Mermaids on the top. When you open the eyeshadow palette you are greeted with a lovely mermaid printed on your mirror along with some other lagoon details like bubbles & clam shells. The eyeshadows are extremely pigmented & have a soft velvety touch something I look for in a eyeshadow palette. The palette features four Matte Eyeshadows & four Shimmer Eyeshadows in bright bold hues inspired by the Inks & Paints used by the Disney artists to create the Mermaids. Gabriela had access to the Disney Archies so that she could study the art & ink/paints used from the 1953 film Peter Pan. Where she found sketches featuring the numbers of the inks & paints used to color in the Mermaids from the Lagoon scene, you can find these numbers on the inside of the Eyeshadow Palette Packaging.
These eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry, the Matte Shadows are beautiful & they are velvety to the touch but they do apply soft, so if you want a bolder color build the layers when applying.
The Shimmer Shadows are my favorite out of the set because they are so pigmented & they glide on smoothly. The pearlescent shimmer is unbelievable, the shimmer in the shadows reflect the light so beautifully, & they can be used as a eyeshadow or a fun eyeliner.

Top Row Eyeshadows - Applied Dry
Taken In Natural Lighting
The Two Shimmer Shadows in the Top Row glide on smoothly & show up really well with one or two swipes each. The burnt orange eyeshadow is beautiful & applies easy as well, the purplish mauve shadow needs to be applied a few times to get to its true color, so I would recommend packing that color on a few times.
When swatching the shadows I swipe each color twice to show you how pigmented they are from two swipes, I do not use eyeshadow primer or press hard into the pans to get extreme pigmentation this is to show quality.

Bottom Row Eyeshadows - Applied Dry
Taken In Natural Lighting
The Two Shimmer Shadows in the Bottom Row glide on smoothly & show up really well with one or two swipes each. The buttery yellow eyeshadow is beautiful & applies easy as well, the pink eyeshadow needs to be applied a few times to get to its true color, so I would recommend packing that color on a few times. I applied this color three times to get it to show its color but it does appear more orange pink than fuchsia pink, it also didn't photograph as well as the other shadows so please keep that in mind. The color is still beautiful but I would recommend using a eyeshadow primer or applying several times to get the true color.
When swatching the shadows I swipe each color twice to show you how pigmented they are from two swipes, I do not use eyeshadow primer or press hard into the pans to get extreme pigmentation this is to show quality.
The Lipsticks are so adorable they are packaged in a two toned matching bubble gum pink & classic Besame gold lipstick tube. The lipstick tubes have the collection name "Mermaid Lagoon" in gold script & different types of seashells on the lipstick top cover & the bottom has the Besame in gold script along the side. This Disney x Besame Cosmetics collection features Three Lipsticks - StarFish Pink - WaterLily Blossom Red, & Mermaid Kiss a pearlescent sheer lipstick that can be worn on top of the other two shades or worn alone for a kiss of shimmer. I honestly love all three of the shades, I think they are lovely & will compliment any skin tone.
StarFish Pink has a vibrant pink hue that reminds me of a tulip, WaterLily Blossom Red has a soft rose red hue, & Mermaid Kiss is a beautiful pearlescent hue that reflects shimmer like a pearl.

As if this collection couldn't get any cuter they add Clamshell Compacts!!!
There are two clamshell compact's the beautiful shiny Gold Clamshell compact is a Matte Golden Sand Bronzer, & the Pearl Clamshell compact is a Shimmer Powder in a soft pearl hue can be used as a Highlighter for an overall glow or a cheek/brow bone highlight. This compact comes with a darling gold powder puff for on the go application. The packaging is truly special & really reminds me of Disney, when you open the compact the mirror is in the shape of a clam with Mermaid Lagoon in gold script, & they both have waves pressed into the powder, & I really love those details.

1953 Mermaid Lagoon Collection : Besame Cosmetics

Happy October 1st!

Happy October 1st!
October is finally here & I feel like it took forever for autumn to get here but let's be honest the weather is still very much summer. I am SO ready for cozy sweaters, high waisted trousers, caps, & lots of layering! If you have been following my blog for a while you definitely know I am a autumn season girl, I just love the smell of Pumpkin in the air, the breeze, the plaid & tartan prints. With that being said of course my first blog post for October would feature a Black Cat purse & one of my favorite Witches SABRINA!
I love Archie Comics & I have been a huge fan since I was little girl, one of my favorite series from the Archie Collection is the 1962 comic series Sabrina The Teenage Witch with illustrations from one of my favorite comic artists Dan DeCarlo. I was really excited when one of my favorite brands Betty and Veronica released an exclusive Sabrina Tee with artwork inspired by the 1962 comic. I LOVE classic Sabrina but I am definitely a fan of the 90s sitcom Sabrina The Teenage Witch, I adored the aunts & of course Salem who doesn't love Salem. Just in time for my favorite spooky month Netflix released a trailer for their version of the Archie classic : The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. This Netflix series is a much darker version & is based on the spooky comic sharing the same title.
Like Sabrina I to have a trusty black cat & no it's not this super cute purse, I have a little black cat at home named Momo Binx. I adopted her a few years back & she is spook-tacular! I have always had a soft spot for black cats especially after watching Hocus Pocus. So when I saw this adorable Black Cat Betsey Johnson Purse on the Unique Vintage website, I couldn't resist snatching it up for myself.
You know I am always looking for comfortable stylish footwear & Charlie Stone Shoes never disappoints! I love the new Portofino style, in a gorgeous red & white combo with a name inspired by the Italian Seaside Town. I always feel so glamorous when I step out in my Charlie Stone Shoes, their styles are classic vintage with modern comfort. Designed with genuine leather, smooth man made sole, & my personal favorite the soft cushioned insole to support my foots arch. This is my fifth pair from this brand & I am obsessed, these flats are truly amazing.
