The Lady in Red

The Lady in Red
It's November which means I will be reviewing a lot of trousers & coats so get ready for it! I am really excited about today's blog feature because I am reviewing this gorgeous Red Cape Coat from ShopXiaolizi, I found their shop while browsing Etsy! I am so excited after watching an episode of Riverdale & seeing Cheryl Blossom in a red coat similar to this one I knew I needed to have one too. ShopXiaolizi has quite the collection of hand made coats, jackets, trousers, & they are all so beautifully made. I love that this shop is family operated & that they were inspired by their mother to create a one of kind studio offering tailor made quality designs.

This gorgeous vintage inspired Red Coat is one of a kind one & beautifully made, this style features a detachable caplet, a collar, four buttons, pockets, & a high low hem. This coat is made out of a soft wool blend fabric & the quality is amazing, I have found with some wool fabrics that they can be quite itchy but this material is soft & itch free. The inside is lined with a matching red polyester fabric, the skirt is pleated with a drop hem front creating a beautiful feminine silhouette. I love how elegant this coat is & I look forward to wearing it all winter long! My favorite detail is the detachable caplet, I love jackets with capes there is something about that detail that makes it look so darling & chic.
I had this coat custom made in my specific measurements because I am usually in between sizes, I am also on the shorter side so I was concerned about how the length in the back & how the hem would look. Their customer service is amazing they sent me over their measurement guide so that I could measure myself properly, they also talked to me about the fit of this specific style. When I received the coat I tried it on with a long sleeve blouse, because I wanted to make sure I was able to wear dresses & blouses underneath. The sleeves are a little long but I actually don't mind because it makes it easier for me to push them up without causing any tightening in the arms. The bust & waist area are a perfect fit even with a long sleeve blouse underneath, overall the coat is very comfortable & will definitely keep me warm on those cooler days ahead. I can't wait for it to finally get colder so that I can wear this beauty more often!

40s Americana

1940s Americana
Happy November 1st everyone I hope you had an amazing Halloween! To be honest I am sad to see October go I really love all the delicious Pumpkin treats & spooky cute decorations at Disneyland. A lot of my favorite pumpkin treats have already been replaced by Peppermint treats which really makes me sad, so long yummy pumpkin scones you will be missed. On the bright side with October leaving us we are getting closer to cooler autumn like weather which as you all know is my favorite season. The weather was kind to us today so I thought it would be the perfect day to try out my new 1940s inspired Americana Button Jacket from The House of Foxy
I love 1940s fashion especially when it comes to jackets, coats, trousers, & dresses the fit/flare design is so flattering for my petite frame plus the styles are pretty comfortable too. I feel the most confident in 1940s trousers & blouses there is something about men's inspired clothing that makes me feel like a femme fatale maybe it's because one of my favorite Old Hollywood Starlets Marlene Dietrich broke the mold in women's fashion where trousers on women were not a common trend. When I came across the 40s Americana jacket it reminded me of an Agent Carter scene from the film Captain America: The First Avenger. In one of the scenes she wore a WWII cropped wool jacket with a skirt & I remember loving that even though the jacket was considered masculine Agent Carter still had a polished feminine look even in what was considered a mens style jacket.
I love that this The House of Foxy jacket is based off of the American headstock jacket from the wartime, you can see that they kept some of the authentic styling such as the 40s collar & the bishop style sleeve with the button cuff. The 40s Americana jacket is so beautiful in person & well made the inside is lined with a gorgeous mustard yellow rayon crepe material while the outside is a top quality tweed weave wool enhanced with light brown stitching & darling buttons. One of my favorite details on this jacket is the nipped waist & the front pockets with a top stitch detail. The fit is spot on I followed their size chart recommendations & I am very pleased with the fit. To be honest I wouldn't mind owning this jacket in every color it came in, that is how much I love it.
